USF Related
There are several sites which may be quite useful to USF students but are unfortunately not known to many. Here is a list of some of the more practical ones. You may also want to check out your department's website if you haven't done so yet.

Academic Computing : Get a free email and webpage acount from here. (Try Geocities or Geocities Japan if you are not enrolled student.) .

ISSS : International Student and Scholar Services.

Registrar's Office : Request transcript &c. from here.

Webluis : You can browse books in USF library from any computers likned to LUIS, via WWW or telnet. You can also renew books by email.

OASIS : Online Access Student Information Ssytem. From here you can register courses, check your grades (Fall 1998 - Present), print out class schedule, and more.

SUNLink : The SUNLink system is being replaced by OASIS. Grades (-Summer 1998).

Mailbox.acomp.usf.edu : Mailbox.acomp.usf.edu lets you access your USF email account via web.

Florida-Japan Institute : Offering the out-of-state tuition exemption program for Japanese students. For more info, go to CPR 279 or call Ms. Shirley Fredricks (Dr. Orr's secretary) at 974-2056.

The Oracle : USF's official student newspaper. You can read some of the articles online. FOJ events are often notified here.

About Japan
There are quite a few online resources about Japan. Two of the best English sites are definitely Mr. Sakamoto's HomeVage and Mr. Harry Johnson's True Japan. Any serious students of Japan should be amazed by their ambitious and closely argued insights. Mr. Masaki OKADA has written tons of interesting essays on various apects of Japanese society in English, which you can read at Japan As It Is. For more trivial but general information, visit Japan Information. You may also want to check out Japan-related newsgroups such as soc.culture.japan and soc.culture.japan.moderated. Their FAQ available on the web provids excellent information about Japan. One of the "big name" regular posters of soc.culture.japan, Mr. Tanaka has got his own newsgroup at alt.tanaka-tomoyuki, and the famous American Misconception about Japan. Lastly, here is a link to the Japanese Prime Minister's Official Residence (via Shodouka).

Kinokuniya : Japanese online bookstore. You can purchase Japanese books from here. You can also subscribe Japanese magazines via Kinokuniya USA .

GTE Super Pages : Online phone directory. What is great about this site is that it will show a simple map to locate the place of phone number you looked up.

Shodouka : Shodouka is a server-based Internet service that will let you read the kana and kanji on any Japanese document on the WWW without the need for any special software. Awesome.

CIILIB : Service similar to Shodouka. To use these, either (1) set "www.shodouka.com" or "193.68.137.61" as your browser's proxy server, or (2) follow these links: Shodouka, CIILIB (to Yahoo Japan).

Japanese Computing Club Zipangu : Mainly for m$ windoze. Japanese only.

The Page of JLK : If you are a mac user and considering of japanizing your mac, then this is a must see website. ^^;;

Keaton Live Guide : Japanese Internet Radio Broadcasting. Japanese only.

ALC : Online discussion forum for Japanese international students. Japanese only.
